Challenge Worldwide Timeline
Employers use the Challenge Worldwide programme as a training, development and incentive programme for Apprentices, Graduates, and any employee in search of personal and professional development. Based on a CSR model, with a hands-on community project at its core, the programme gives participants an opportunity to develop entrepreneurial, innovation, creativity, sales, time & project management skills within an overall Leadership & Team-player framework. Each participant raises a contribution of around £4,000 towards the programme before attending the final overseas event.
Each event takes place in a developing area of the world, where two of the major ‘Challenges’ of the programme – cultural and community – engage participants with the indigenous population to build a sustainable project. The host community benefits from an exchange of skills and the funding and construction of desperately needed facilities i.e. Bush Clinics, School buildings, Medical Centres, Community Kitchens and Eco-power plants.
The final ‘Challenge’ – physical – involves a significant endurance test in which leadership and teamwork come to the fore, i.e. trekking to Machu Picchu in Peru, climbing Kota Kinabalu in Borneo, and even attempting to summit Cotopaxi in Ecuador – the world’s highest live volcano.
